Going crazy with #FishnetFrenzy

I’ve been going crazy at work trying to trend  #FishnetFrenzy. Thought I’d share this clever creation, inspired by Madonna’s recent indecent exposure.

Do you like to wear fishnets? Have you checked out Philippe Matignon hosiery?

“Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”: drag in pop culture

A drag queen is a man who dresses up and acts like a caricature women for the purpose of entertaining or performing. They often exaggerate body parts, use dramatic makeup and put on flashy costumes to create comic or satirical effects.

RuPaul's drag race

The female equivalent of a drag queen is a drag king, a woman who performs in a male role. Interesting, there are also faux queens and kings, women and men who dress in exaggerated manners to imitate drag queens and kings.

Fashion world lends a hand to Japan

Karmaloop designs the Rising Sun tee to donate to Japan relief efforts

On March 11, a 8.9-Richter earthquake hit Japan and was followed by a devastating tsunami. Nearly 8,500 people have been confirmed dead and approximately 13,000 are missing.

Survivors in Northeastern Japan are suffering from lack of electricity, water and transportation. Countries, organizations and individuals everywhere are making every possible effort to assist Japan, and the fashion world isn’t an exception.

Donations are made out-of-pocket, through portions of proceeds, creating special merchandises and other charity events. Coach has pledged to donate 400 million Yen (equal to $5 million) to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Fast Retailing Group, owner of Uniqlo, will contribute $17 million Continue reading

53rd Grammys: A night to talk about

Drake, Diana Argon, Natasha Beddingfield, Nicole Kidman & Selena Gomez on the red carpet

The Grammys is an occasion not only for honoring artists but also for extravagant performances and overt fashion statements. The weather of California provided the perfect opportunity for female artists to show off skin in their skimpy frocks. The 53rd award show this past Sunday kept the audience on edge by focusing more on performances than handing out gramophones. Some surprise wins and stage stunts added the necessary oomph to the presentation.

Canadian alternative rock band Arcade Fire pulled the biggest underdog win of the night. They beat out Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry to win Album of the Year for “The Suburbs.” Esperanza Spalding, a commercially lesser known jazz vocalist, left Justin Bieber fans rather disappointed when she claimed Best New Artist.

Country sensation Lady Antebellum captured five trophies, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Need You Now.” David Letterman utilized the often-confused-categories to deliver a humorous touch. Continue reading

Dancewear: Inspired by Nathalie Lucas

Nathalie Lucas is my favorite dancer/choreographer on Youtube. Her moves inspire me, and so does her fashion. Here are some of my favorite videos/outfits by Nathalie.

Break the ice

If U seek Amy

Tik tok

Womanizer

Poker face

Bad romance

Phonography

Losing my way

Nathalie always looks effortlessly fabulous while dancing, rocking her red, blonde or black hair. Her style is comfortable with shorts, relaxed tank tops and tunics with socks or leggings. She would go barefoot or sport high-top sneakers and uggs. Spaghetti or bikini tops would be layered underneath careless off-the-shoulder tees, bringing out the sexiness.
